Anyone please jump in with suggestions. I have been divorced for 3 years now. Only my Equifax report still has by married name on my report (not in the aka section) and my ex-spouse is still listed on the report. I no longer use my married name and would like to have it deleted from my credit profile and use my maiden name. Is this possible? If so, what do I need to do to have the information corrected? I would just send a letter stating your dispute and a copy of your social security card to verifty your new name. There shouldn't be any problem. Dani
I agree... should be no problem. Send a copy of your DL and SS card. Tell them that it IS not your name and you want it deleted. You may even be able to get them to do it with a telephone call. Nice thing about this one is that it doesn't take 30 days. They will update it within 3-5 business days.
Thanks so much Bkev!!!! I just hung up with an Equifax rep and she changed the information right on the spot. No questions asked. I will also receive a new credit report in 5 to 7 business days. Again thanks for the info.
