A relative of mine has a 771 EX score, with AMEX and FUSA and such accounts dating back to '83. Perfect history. Two inquiries, both a year old. Similar with TU. One neg on Equisux, something from her ex that is due to fly off in six months. She needs a line of credit to pay off her CrapOne cards and do some home improvements. Now, Home Depot did give her a $2250 credit line, adding my mom as an AU. She applied for an Apple Loan in hopes of using balance transfers (this is MBNA) Despite her score, she got an instant denial. She was hurt and shocked because I had told her (truthfully) that I got $1800 when I wanted $600, with several derogs and a lot of inquiries. She asked for $1000 in hopes of getting $3500 like my brother did. She has never had an MBNA account, which means she can't be blacklisted. She had also a few minutes before applied for a consumer LOC from them for $5000. I'm wondering if perhaps she shouldn't have applied for two at once, though my brother and I have with MBNA with a lot of success! AMEX seems to have discontinued their LOC, which sucks. Does anyone know about that? We couldn't find it. I think with her 19 year perfect AMEX history and score, she would get it. Does anyone have any ideas?
Yep! AMEX discontinued their LOC a few months ago. Tell her to try Generations Bank. They LOC's and it's "hidden" as well.
Does she own her home?? If so how long has she had it?? She may want to look at a HELOC, those rates are still pretty good these days.
