Made mistake 11/05 settled medical bill $400 for $300 to Law office/CA that listed original CA and DR billing/CA. I paid check over phone and was promised a settlement/paid LTR. After months requesting it over phone never received it, only more promises. At one point I received computer calls to call them phone lady once said I had $100 balance but REP that settled debt said I did not owe anything. Credit report now 03/06 shows $100 balance past due 120 days from the old collection angency. Main concern is to get balance to zero at this point. Questions/advice 1 Send LTR/validation to Law office I paid since they once told me I had a balance or follow up to phone/promises and the fact their reps say I have no balance. 2. Send LTR to CA on my credit report to validate dispute the $100 since I settled with the Law office. 3. What is the best way to protect/document things to cover all bases. I hope I wont need to just pay the $100 but its small and just want my bill to $0 balance. These are not the most reputable CA's. thanks if someone can help
Did you write to the CRAs? Do you want to pay money that you don't owe, know you don't owe, or do you want it removed? If you pay, all you're going to get out of it is a "paid collection" notation on your credit reports for the next 7 years.
