Help...where do I start?

I just signed up for PrivacyGuard to get a picture of what was on all three bureau reports. There is a new (I think) notation on Exp and TU for a collection account with Surety Acceptance. The dates are all a few years old, but when I last pulled all three reports through myfico.com (Sept. 03), this wasn't there.

I don't have any idea what this is for. Exp lists it twice, same acct. #, two different balances. No contact information for Surety is provided, and I am not aware of any collection attempts.

What is my first step in identifying this and getting rid of it? Do I dispute as "Not mine" with Exp and TU? Do I tackle the duplicate on Exp at the same time, or is that likely to get me a "frivolous"?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

With the FAQs gone (at least temporarily), I really am stumped. I did all my newbie reading on goodwill letters and payment for deletion, since those techniques were appropriate to all the bad stuff I *thought* I had...now, with this new thing, I'm not sure how to proceed. Dispute with CRA as "not mine"? Validate with CRA? Validate with CA? If I validate, do I start out with sending it CRRR, or do we save that expense until things get "serious"?

Thanks again for any direction you experts can provide...

    1*Validate
2*Everything by mail - always CRRR.
3*What do you do when it gets serious but you don't have the green cards you need because you didn't send things CRRR???????????
