I have a collection on my CR that appears to be from an old medical bill. The original amount is 56.00 but as of 7/2004 the balance is $85.00. Oddly it says it was reported 7/2004 and assigned 7/1999. Date of first delinquency was 6/1998. In 7/2001 I filed bankruptcy and included this debt on the schedule F. On my report it states Bankruptcy Chapter 7. I have disputed this account twice, once in 11/2003 and again in 7/2004 one to be informed that it "remains". As far as the origination, I know that this in not for services that I incurred. It however, may have been services for my wife (long time to remember). I have sent them a "pay for delete" letter but they have failed to respond. In the letter I stated â??This letter is not to be construed as an acknowledgment of my liability for this debt in any form.â? Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance, Jlg
Tried and true...send them validation request with green card CMRRR, once they get it-dispute with the 3 CRA's ...for most it works. My guess is that they wont be able to validate and have to remove.. good luck
I could be mistaken but I thought medical bills could not be written off on a bankruptcy. Same as government student loans.
The foremost reason for my bankruptcy was medical bills. I think this may be the case for most people filing. Thanks for the replies. Keep up the good work!! Thanks again, Jlg
There is no reason medical bills can't be included in BK This is probably what forces many people into BK
