I have a chargeoff account for $2000 within SOL that I'd like to resolve. I disputed it with the CRAs, and it came back verified.
The account is still with the OC - should I send a OC Validation letter? What will be the purpose of that letter?
Should I dispute with the CRAs once again?
This is the only chargeff that I have - I want to resolve it because I plan to apply for a mortgage in a few months.
What's your general advice for handling this account?

On what basis are you disputing it?

Is it your account? Is an amount still owed? Have your payments been correctly applied? Are fees and interest correctly accounted for? Is the amount reported as charged off what is owed?

Most likely your mortgage company will require it to be paid.. Where it is only 2k I would try to pay it to preven delays in your mortgage..

    Thanks for your reply!
I disputed the account as "not mine."
The chargeoff amt looks right - it includes a lot interest fees though. I'm not 100% sure all fees have been accounted correctly.
On one of the reports, the TL shows charegeoff and 13 months past due.

    What are you suggesting?
