Genesis is listed on all 3 credit reports as a paid collection. I was never contacted by them and I definetly didn't pay them. It looks like it is an old providian account. How should I handle this? Should I send a validation letter? If I do that can they subsequently come after me for payment?
If it shows as a paid collection, why not try disputing it as not mine? I don't think it would hurt anything.
I disputed a genesis collection on my first round of disputes. I disputed as not mine, and it came off on the first try. It wasn't even that old! Give "not mine" a try, you might have good luck like me!
thanks, i wasn't sure what to do because I know that I did not pay them and I did not want to rock the boat.
I sent Genesis a validation letter and they not only removed it but they returned the account the original creditor. I guess they can't handle pressure. LOL. Dispute it with the CRA's and request validation with them.
I know this POST is a Little OLD. But I send Genesis a Validation request for a Ballys acct that I had and they send my a computer print out that states the OC NAME, ACCT NAME, DATE OPENED, CHARGE OFF DATE, CHARGE OFF BALANCE, AND MY LAST KNOWN ADDRESS. And the funny thing is my last known address is my current address which they never would have had if i did not request validation. Here is my question is the validation and if not what should I do next. Thanks
Re: Re: Re: Help With Genesis CA Ok found the Estoppel letter. I am going to send it out tomorrow. Thanks
Yeah. I did the research necessary to prove that estoppel does apply and I authored my own estoppel letter which does not use any of the junk theories in the letter that everybody has been/is using. I'm done with that piece of junk
Will I post it? Will I post it? Of course not. I don't put my research and efforts out on public message boards for every collection agency snoop to grab up and use against those I try to help. And as if that isn't bad enough then somebody else will figure out how they can best ruin it and misuse it to their own detriment and then come back and blame me for their blunders. Even if I was willing to post it all over I still would not do so until it had been thoroughly tested and prove to work better then the junk currently posted. That simply takes time. I don't believe in posting stuff that isn't proven to work hoping someone will think I'm some kind of glueru It isn't about being a glueru and trying to win internet popularity contests, its about being right and getting the job done.
Will I post it? bill, Did you think that you could tell the kids that you have a new puppy and think that no one would want to see it? LOL
Will I post it? While it may very well be that everybody wants to see a new puppy it is the owner's responsibility to see to it that the new puppy don't bite everybody who picks it up. Suppose the new puppy turns out to be a hyena pup? Not all new pups are safe to pick up.
