As some of you know, I'm in the process of obtaining a mortgage and trying to "clean up" my credit report. Next issue Last year I had some lab work done. The lab indicated they would bill my insurance. They never did, they sent us 4 bills, each time, we faxed them our insurance information and they stated they would bill our insurance. They never did. We forgot about it, thinking it had been paid. The $245 is now on my creidt report. The lab said they would pull the account from collections and rebill the insurance. What they actually DID was told the collection agency to put a 30 day insurance hold on the account. We called the lab and they told us they would actually PULL it from collections and have the CA fax a letter to our mortgage brooker stating they did that. What they actually did fax a letter stating there was a 30 day insurance hold. What's recourse do I have? I need this taken care of ASAP since we want to finalized the mortgage this week. Should I fax an INTENT TO SUE letter to the medical lab? Just keep calling and bitching? Any guidance would be appreciated!
Not that it will help at this late date...I always PAID first...then I billed the insurance company...
I always PAID first...then I billed the insurance company. --------------------------------------------------------- I have seen the provider get paid twice by using this method. Also if you can pay the bill why do you need the insurance?
Well I faxed a INTENT TO SUE letter to the medical office this morning. I gave them exactly 2.5 hours to remove it from collections. I stated if they didn't, I would be making payment and then sue them to get reimbursed based off of violations of the Federal Credit Billing Act. Exactly 30 mins after my fax, I got a fax back from the CA stating the account had been canceled with them. A small victory
