Hi all. Im new and glad to be here. Here is my deal: I used Experian's online dispute process. The trade line was a retail card(Service Mechandise) and the paper was held by WFNNB.I got this card in 1990 and paid it religously until SM went under. There are 2 items that are being reported incorrectly. 1. Open account That is false. This account was closed by me in July 6, 2004. 2. This account was 30 days late twice. That is false as well. They "claimed" that they verified the info and that all current remarks shall remain. How could they have verified an account that is "closed" to be "open"? I talked with "Nancy" with card services and she informed me that they have no history for my account prior to the date that I closed it. Is Experian jacking me around and if so what can I do at this point? Thanks in advance!
Experian is not the problem. They only verify what their told by the CAs or OCs...Its the company holding the paper thats the main problem. Since you have already done the inline dispute. Send the company that reported the TL a Debt Validation letter.Send it CMRR. Keep the Postal green slips.Wait for the response...If they said they have no records before that date than most likely they wont be able to provide proper Validation.. Also keep the copys of all your reports that the CRAs send you. You can find some examples of Validation letters here on this site.. I have been going thru the same thing on my Exp and had to send out letters CMRR to the TLs listed..So dont feel like your alone.. frioguy
On the other hand, Experian MAY be the problem. Get Experian to explain how they verified the account. Make sure they actually verified WITH the OC and not with their own internal systems.
I called the OC and was informed that "electronic" status request was made and sent to Experian on Feb. 27.
