Hi. New here. Thanks in advance. My husband and I are supposed to close on a new construction home soon. I have never missed a payment or defaulted on anything in my life. In April during pre-approval my mortgage company ran a clear credit report from all three agencies. Last week they ran it again as we're close to closing and now Equifax dropped my score to like 500-something. On closer inspection they have added a name that is not me to a former name, given me a birthdate that is not mine (10 years + older), and moved me to a different state! They appear to be confusing me with this other woman (not terribly similar names) and have just merged her credit history with mine. It is not identify theft because these cards and collections on her report date back to 2002-2003 and I've never had a bad credit score come up before. The collections on the report could seriously hurt my mortgage. I've called Equifax 2x to dispute (the first time they didn't dispute everything) and have mailed them my DL and SS card return receipt requested. What else can I do? Just wait the 45 days? Does anyone have experience with something like this resolving itself well? They say it's not their fault but they are the only one of the three with this issue. Apparently all creditors at the same time decided to type in this other woman's SS# incorrectly.

    Thanks for your help.
