I am trying to clean up a mess on my credit report from a previous problem I had posted on here and got some help with. I sent a certified letter, return receipt to a ca, only to have the letter not signed for or picked up. What do I do now? I can't even get them to respond "officially" so I can take care of this. Thanks for any help...ED
If you have a street address for the CA, you can try to have the letter delivered by UPS or FedEx. Using one of these services will cost more than Post Office CRRR, but you do get delivery confirmation and you might have better luck getting it delivered by them. It's possible the CA will refuse to accept the letter delivered by UPS and FedEx, but the refusal will help you to defend your case if you dispute the TL with the CRAs. Try locating a fax number for the CA and fax the letter to them. Make sure the fax machine gives you a "receipt" of the number dialed, date, time, and number of pages. If you don't have the fax number, you can usually find one on at www.bbb.org, or try one of these websites: www.collector.com, www.collectionindustry.com, or www.debtbuyers.org for contact information. Faxing the letter gives you more evidence that you did write to them. Go to the Post Office website and, using your CRRR number, access and print the page that says your letter was not picked up, and keep it in your paper trail file. You may need this later. Finally, do a search on this forum for more advice. Try looking for "no CA response," "no green card," or something similar. There is a ton of advice here; you just need to be diligent to find it. Good luck. flamva
