Ok, here is the situation. I have two CA's collecting for the same debt. Neither one is licensed to collect in my state. I sent validations CRR and both signed on 6/10/04. Both of them sent their responses the VERY next day. (No, they arent the same company). both sent copies of the same signed contract and statements. Am I screwed? they sent their responses via regular mail. One said that she had fullfilled the obligation under the FCRA, and both asked for payment in their validation packets. Are there any messups by either one? Bewsides the fct that I am going to report them for trying to collect in my State.

if there not licensed to collect in your state I would think your not obligated to pay them anything. Are they reporting this debt to the bureals?

Oooh, no. all that they provided was a copy of the credit application, the invoices and a piece of paper from 2000 showing the invoice amounts and finance charges. no breakdown. The other one is charging DOUBLE.

It depends on what state you're in. Here in California they are not required to be licensed, but they better adhere to the FCRA and others.
