I have disputed all the addresses and 2 previous names on my credit reports.I have also sent validation letters to a few CA's. As proof of my current address I sent a copy of an insurance payment notice that had my address on it and a copy of a pay stub with the name of the company whited out. Both were listed as being acceptable proofs of address. These are my questions.... 1. Will the CRA's send me an updated credit report showing me the names and addresses have been deleted? 2. Has anyone ever heard of a CRA refusing to delete old names and addresses if you dispute them and send proof?? 3. How soon after the address disputes should you send dispute letters to the CA to have tradelines removed, and how many can you normally get away with per dispute letter without coming off as suspicious(frivilous)??? Thanks for your help!!!!
I did this for wrong addresses and wrong names...they do their own investigation...they will usually pick some accts to contact the creditors to verify their address/name info they have on file. After this, if no one verifies the disputed info, they will update info per your request. They disputed several of my good accounts before they realized that the wrong name should be deleted. Addresses, too. Names are a little harder, because of marriage and stuff, they aren't as willing to delete an aka. Sending them proof of what your current name is will only get the other one bumped to previous names...usually.
I have not disputed anything except the name and addresses with the CRA. I am waiting for the previous names and addresses to be deleted before I begin the tradeline disputes. i am a little confused as to what you mean by they disputed several of your good accounts before they relaized the name should be deleted. Do you mean they were trying to verify the names/addresses with some of your creditors and accidently disputed the actual tradeline instead?? So basically if any of my creditors have the addresses that I am trying to delete as not mine or the previous names then I am going to be screwed, meaning they won't remove them??? I thought the CRA got your name and addresses from the creditors in the first place??? What should I do if the CRA comes back and says they have verified my previous personal info??? Has this ever happened to any of you? What do I say to them if they tell me this???
all you have to do is call the CRAs and tell them that the addresses listed on your CRs are not your, the same goes for any name variations. they will then send you updated CRs with the addresses and names removed. it is too bad it is not this easy for the derogs.
Re: Re: Helppppppp Please!!!! So are you saying they don't attempt to verfiy the previous addresses and names before they delete them???
Re: Re: Helppppppp Please!!!! my experience has been that when I had an address or name on my report that I did not want on my CR, I just called and had it removed. I do not know how they verify or if they verify, this is just how I did it.
Re: Re: Helppppppp Please!!!! CSC (Equifax affiliate) was the only one that went to the trouble of verifying. They put two random accounts in dispute. Darn if they didn't verify my old address! TU and Ex was just a phone call.
Re: Re: Re: Helppppppp Please!!!! So did you ever eventually get the verified address removed?? If not did it hinder your attempts at deleting tradelines??? If they verify the addresses and names what should my next step be?? All my creditors have one or another of the addresses and my names that I am trying to get deleted. None have my current address. All my tradelines are chargeoffs from a year or more ago or positives from like 12 years ago.
Re: Re: Re: Helppppppp Please!!!! It has been simple for me. I just called them and told them i never lived at those address's, and they deleted. The problem i had was with TU i have one old address that got deleted, But as soon as the CA reported this month the old address was back on there, but now it is my cuurent address. I called them and they deleted again, but she said everytime they report it will show up again.
