Ok I get the results of a validation letter in the mail today. They tell me they no longer own these accounts and they were deleted as of 12-31-01 with TU and Equifax. Luckily, I got a new TU in the mail today and sure enough, they are not reporting there, however EQ still reports them. I looked in my creditwatch archives and EQ claims to have verified these in Jan 2002. I called the CEO (he included a business card in the letter) and he said EQ did NOT verify these. He said they sent information to both bureaus to delete ALL accounts as of 12-31-01 and haven't had any problems yet. Just to CYA I pulled another Equifax just now and they are listed as "checked" status 1-02. So now what?? Is this just one more violation I have them on. And they still will NOT delete the duplicates. I filed a lawsuit, but I want to go to the local bureau right now (5 minutes away) and have it out with them. Would that mess up my lawsuit? I just want this FIXED once and for all!!!
I need some advice please. If I go to the local bureau right now and insist this information be deleted and the duplicates deleted will I completely mess up my lawsuit? I am tempted to go RIGHT NOW!!!
I just called him and he's out until 3:00 I am going down there, if it messes me up oh well. I'll just have to retain my composure, but I've had it.
I would think if you have a valid lawsuit filed and pending it would be wise to just add that to it and Stay away from them! Can you wait until Monday? Think I know your mad it may be a trap. I think they are out to get us. I just caught TU in a lie on thier investiagation report. The creditor told me to file suit it was not what they reported.
Christi, Contact Consumer Affairs at EQ in Atlanta. Faxed the letter that you have from the agency or have them call the agency to verify its removal, because this is an obvious violation and considering your success with the locals, I would suggest not bothering with them. EQ is almost laughable, they verified on"1/2002", gee I wonder who they spoke with at that company ? If you need the 1800 number to Consumer Affairs, drop an email and I will send it to you, it is calanova2000@yahoo.com. Cypri
unfortunately the witches at Consumer Affairs aka Robin Holland & Vicki Banks wont' do anything either. They are the ones who got my report MORE screwed up and have negatives reporting duplicately. I am not messing with them anymore. I have filed my lawsuit and this just gives me more ammunition. The guy told me he would give me $100 out of his pocket if Equifax could produce a consumer data verfication sheet. He is that certain it has NOT been verified. He is sending me a letter to state it has NOT been verified by his office and he said they do NOT do phone verifications.
Well, ok...the lawsuit is pending--and you have the letter from the company that says it shouldn't be listed, right.? (I am trying to remember this, so pardon me if I am off) Is it signed? I *do* know that CSC/EQ will only accept letters from the creditors that were sent to the consumer with a signature. If it is signed, I say just take it by and request the local office fix it while you stand there. Do they even have "walk-in" service, though? If they do, and if your goal is just to get it fixed, I say go for it. I'd stand there and wait, just to be a pill. But that's me. But if you want to do the lawsuit (which I can completely understand after my dealings with CSC), then hold off. And after having to deal with them, I would be sort of in the mood to see what kind of squirming you can get them to go through. I know you want this fixed and don't blame you!!
I want it fixed, but this was one of the points in the lawsuit so I better just let sleeping dogs lie. Like I said it's just ammo against them. Yes, the letter is signed.
OOh you ahev run into them as well! I was a little luckier with them, yes this makes your case even stronger, I think you will have to wait until EQ responds to your suit or you get a phone call or go to court. I know it is frustrating right now, but it seems you have exhausted all avenues outside of going to court. You have a very strong case and any lawyer at EQ worth his or her J.D. will settle this case with you. Sometimes these representatives really don't understand the ramificiations of their actions or just don't care and its going to be left up to the lawyers to make the call, because their job is to prevent unnecessary litigation for the company. Since you significant proof that you have them on violations that could cost them some money they will settle. Patience is the key for this one. Believe me I had a list of grievances with EQ but before I was able to file suit, they finally saw the light. Don't give up! Cypri
Then good luck with the lawsuit and hope you get some great news soon in the form of EQ getting it corrected AND answering the charges. You are right; it is ridiculous at this point and you have every right to be mad. Just hold onto the letter, then, since like you said it is even more ammo that CSC/EQ are dips. (with mine, they got it corrected once I sent the signed letter with the tagline of "I don't want to have to pursue legal action...." Since Jan. 22, I have gotten 3 copies from CSC all showing the corrected notation--they keep sending them out, which is sort of funny at this point (I guess every rep who looks at the correspondence sends one to me).
