Hi All, Here's a victory story. My Dad ran into some financial trouble about 6 years ago on a credit card (I won't disclose which one) and went bad on about $2,000. He settled a few years later for a "paid in full collection" (he should have settled only for a complete deletion, but he didn't know any better at the time). Well, about a year ago, he pulled his CR and the debt still showed as an outstanding unpaid collection. Instead of complaining to the creditor, he hired an attorney who asked for $10,000 in compensation for damages. The creditor settled for $8,500 and a complete deletion of the account. He's in litigation right now with a second creditor as well for the same reason. In this second case though he had to "settle" in full twice with the creditor because he lost his paperwork on the first settlement and they claimed that he never paid them. He's really pissed and is asking for 100K.
