Household allows people to ask for cl increases, then are charged a fee if approved. Cl increases done by computer upon review every 6 months, there is no fee.

It is a ripoff. i have been offered 100 cl increases for a 40$ charge from marin bank. I never laughed so hard.

Just another angle to make money. It truley is amazing. Of all there set-up fees, etc, cl increase fees, overlimit fees, late fees, that they actually go out of bisiness. Just shows they are taking a huge chance on sub-prime borrowers, and that alot will chargeoff.

Again. This is the price people have to pay to rebuild their credit, not helping is the fact that the economy is so soft right now. It is quite sad that banking regulators allow charging a fee to inclrease ones credit line (It should come free as you rebuild). It is pure profit taking at the expense of the very same people who can least afford it and have few alternatives.

I NEVER had a limit increase fee when
    I had HOUSEHOLD (10 YEARS~~$17,000)

BUT I GUESS I'M WRONG!!! I WILL CALL THEM UP AND ASK IF THEY
WANT THEIR CLI FEES THAT THEY FORGOT!!!

Some cards charge a yearly fee and some don't, some charge CLI fees, some don't. I would rather pay for my increase then a yearly fee, but that's just me.

I just looked at my HH account online and the $30 CLI fee is listed as a "Credit Line Increase Finance Charge".

I'm thinking about writing a letter to HH to complain about this. It may not change anything, but at least it will make me feel better.

Just fuel to the fire as far as I'm concerned. I mean c'mon, $30 fee will be imposed as a finance charge??? And if you only pay the minimum, it will carry over. Outrageous!.

Moving on. I agree with George. I've run into the same thing with my HH card with a wee little CL. There really is no value in paying for increase. It would make better sense to get a secured card (such as at a credit union) and making the deposit to increase the limit, it would still be your money after you rebuild.

Annual fees are a little different in that you pay to have the card in the first place, which is more crucial than an increase, imho.
