it was recommended that i give a "hello" post since i never have... even though i am new to "posting" messages, i have been reading this board for a few months now... i also have been doing my own credit repair for the last 3 years (thanks to the wonderful book by b.hammond---"life after debt")... and then i found you all, and i am taking my credit education further. i made some mistakes in my wayward college days, and i increased my scores from the mid-500s to 679 (lowest) - 739 (highest).. i just (VERY) recently won a current battle over a date change (i have a positive line of credit, which, because of internal complications at my creditor's office showed an incorrect date---they claimed i opened my account a couple months ago, when it was actually several years ago!!). i wouldn't think it would be such a big deal, but the BIG THREE gave me so much hassle changing the date!!! i finally got two of them to change it and i am waiting on the 3rd, but right now i am happy (it took 3 months!!!!!). surprisingly enough, that date was the biggest thing weighing down my score (most of my old derrogatory information has been removed with ONE exception on ONE report). i am anxious to see what my scores have changed to now that the date has been changed (length of credit history was my biggest negative since my old derog accounts had the longest history and they are now removed). i hope to learn as much as possible, as well as assist as much as possible! --------atiYana!
