Thought I should back up a bit and say hi and introduce myself and my situation. I had excellent credit until last July when my pay went south. From there things got worse, I considered and am/was very close to bankruptcy. I owe around 30k in unsecured debt. I have recently obtained a good paying job again and am ready to "make things right" or as close to right as I can. My goal is to get credit to the point that I can 1. Have an unsecured card with low limit of 1500. 2. Be able to obtain an auto loan. 3. Build or buy a house in 5 years.

Now, I do have a auto loan current. I assume this will help me. I also have a credit card from gateway that has 0 balance that I may be able to use to build credit, dunno.

I am beginning to read all this and it gives me hope.

Oh, I am soon to be 35.

    Thanks

    Welcome!

If I were you, I'd try to avoid bankruptcy if you can. See if you can make some arrangements, telling the creditors that you just got a job and really want to catch up, but otherwise you'll have to declare bankruptcy.

Do a search for my posts. I replied to someone a few weeks ago and described how I did it. I can't remember the name of the post or poster, but if you look through my posts you'll find it.

If I could do it with $77K of debt, you can do it!!
