i have another question. what is the best credit score that a individual would have to have to be considered as a good credit risk. even if they've filied for bankruptcy.and have bad credit?
let's say that mine is 549.
and how could i raise my credit score?

Hi, I am new to this also...
You should read the FAQ's posted at the top of the board along with Doc's Primer. You have to read a bit before you actually understand what you need to do and in what fashion it needs to be done.

It is very possible to legally remove the "black" marks from your credit report...mostly through letter writing.

Take a look at the top of the board and also read the messages posted by others so that you get your feet wet.

If you have specific questions you should also try using the search function.

I believe the top Fico score is 850. Before you start any of this you should attain copies of your credit reports (www.experian.com, www.transunion.com, and www.equifax.com) so that you know exactly what you are dealing with.

    Good luck & welcome.
