Thanks George--and it doesn't matter (or matters very little) if one or two of the cards is near its limit while the others are not?

Your credit reports are NOT updated every day, so even if you MAXED everything tomorrow, you would still be able to apply for something else because they would NOT know that you are MAXED until all the credit cards report...

If you have a "REASON CODE" too many inquiries...don't apply for anything for 6 months.

I HAVE A 0.00% CARD...IT WOULD BE STUPID TO NOT HAVE IT MAXED!!!

    Total owed/total credit limit...

Owe $11,695.00 credit limit $11,700.00...$5.00 for "EMERGENCY"...

My thinking exactly, George. I want to max or near-max a couple of no-interest/big cashback cards and ignore a couple of cards that no longer carry these perks.

I get the point about CRA's being notified only periodically (at the end of a CC cycle, I gather), but I'm still wondering how much more of a negative impact on one's CRA if the charges are concentrated in this way. Thanks again for your replies. :)

Only F.I.C.O. know for sure...but the theory is this...TOTAL OWED/TOTAL CREDIT LIMIT.

    DEBT TO CREDIT LIMIT RATIO.

There also is a DEBT TO INCOME RATIO.

How these play in the F.I.C.O. score...ONLY F.I.C.O. KNOWS...
