will it help me if i have 4k in a bofa checking account when i apply for their credit card? i was thinking of opening a checking acct and dumping my money in there. my highest limit card is a stupid 1k wells fargo student card and they wont increase the cl. i want ~5k line though. is there something else i can do with 4 grand while i have it to get a high credit line? my score is 751 with only 2 year history.

Your score is good, but your history is limited. If you open a BofA checking account, they will probably offer you a credit card on some terms. I don't know if the amount of cash in your account will affect it, or if you will get better terms applying vs. watching for good offers.

What terms are you seeing in the offers you are now getting? Who is your credit profile attracting, and how bad to they seem to want your business?

it doesnt matter the amount of cash u have when apply for the account. it's all about credit history and score. But as the previous poster say u probably will be offer a credit card when open the account so it could help.

Try one of the Amex revolving products before or a target visa

ok forget the account balance stuff. just help me get a strategy for getting a bunch of credit within a month. My pg scores are 751 and i just ran myfico on transunion and it says 763 which is awesome. my preapproved offers are crap because prior to this month i carried like 99% util and scores were like 615. also i had a late payment that was on there for like 6mo that i just got taken off this month.
I have 2 credit accounts, wells student 1k and banana republic 800 limit. wells is 2yr old, brepub is 1yr. I asked wells for a cl increase, but they will only do it if they pull a hard on TU. someone said wells student is very strict on increases, but should i do that first? then what cards can i expect to get? would it be worth it to try for amex blue with my short history? gm household trio cause of just 1 inquiry? the strategy cannot include stuff like "get the amex green and wait 6 months" cause i need some credit now. thanks

ok apply right now for amex delta or starwood (not blue) that one is harder to get. Expect no more than 2k line from amex. If u dont want to pay anual fee. call after receive the card to convert it for another one with no anual fee. Also can apply for Fleet (the platinum or titanium card). Fleet will become Bofa very soon. or Target visa

In some moths could try one of the cards who offers higher credit lines, they are: BofA, Citi (try AAdvantage and after approval call to convert to plat select or another card with no anual fee) and MBNA.
