Hi all, I just found out that I was approved for the Hilton Hhonors card with a $5K credit line after applying for the Hilton Hhonors Signature Visa last week. They pulled TU and my TU consumer score last week was 732. Here's my question: Is there anyone here who has the "signature" Visa but also has a defined credit limit? Customer service says that some Signature Visa members may get preset credit lines (as in my case at $5K), although the website says that the Sig. Visa has no preset limit. They told me that they didn't know exactly what kind of card I had yet, but that it was definitely Hilton Hhonors and I would get my 10,000 bonus points. The terms and conditions of the website don't say "you'll be considered for a different card" though it does say that "some credit lines will be as low as $500" (those can't be signature cards, can they?...) I would love to have the signature card (for the related travel benefits) but just wanted to know if anyone had ever gotten it with a set credit line. BTW - for Citi burners - Citibank USA does not use the same credit database that Citibank does, as my previous Citibank history did not even come up. http://www.hhonorscard.com/ Thanks in advance,
Marci, I have this card. Well, not the signature one because they didn't offer that at the time I opened mine. Here is what I can tell you about the Travelocity worldcard (mastercard equivalent to the visa signature card and also issued by citibank USA) that I had previously: When they say no preset spending limit, that doesn't exactly mean what it sounds like. I had a "limit" of 12k. However, charges would be allowed over that limit, but were required to be paid when you received your statement. You can charge over the "limit", but what the limit really refers to is a revolving limit. You can only revolve up to your limit (12k in my case), but you can charge higher than that.
First off, congratulations. Secondly, what did you get for a APR? On the credit limit thing, I always understood it as there was a credit limit, but you where not charged when you went over it. Any amount over the credit line would be due the next statement along with your minimum payment. I could be way off.
Thanks, the other and Jason for the explanations. I do understand that any balance over their "internal" non-preset limit - lol! - is due in full by the next billing cycle. The lady seemed to indicate that I didn't even have the choice to revolve above $5K. I'll update when I get the card, though. I don't need the "no pre-set limit" but I do want the Signature benefits. Thanks, Jason. My terms (for the card I applied for) are: (APR) for purchases introductory 0% for the first six months ... after that, 12.74%. Balance transfer APR: introductory 9.99% for the first six months ... after that, 12.74%. Cash advance APR: 19.99% ... Default APR: 19.74%. The rate for purchases and balance transfers is determined monthly by adding 7.99% to the Prime Rate. Grace Period for Repayment of Balance for Purchases 20 - 25 days if you pay your balance in full by the due date. Method of computing the balance for purchases Average Daily Balance (including new purchases). Annual Fees None. Minimum Finance Charge $1.00 . Transaction fee for Cash Advances: 3% of the amount of each cash advance, but not less than $5. Late fee:$29 I don't know if there is a BT fee, but I plan to talk them down from P+7.99% and see if I can up my cl to $8K.
I checked my TU report today and the inquiry for Citibank USA is "Citibank SD, N.A." which used to be the exact inquiry match for Citibank. Now, all of the Citibank inquiries read "Citi Cards CBSDNA". I noticed this change after they started reporting again. So, I have no clue if Citibank's credit dept is analyzing the Citibank USA applications. If they are - it is a miracle that I was approved for this card.
Thanks for the info Marci. I see we both have simular tastes in cards. Great benefits, great banks, no fees. You'll have to let me know what you think of the card after you have had it a while and what your able to get them do about that APR. I would be nice if they could do the P+1.9% or better yet P+0.9% some people have on their Citi Platinum Select. ** What is the lowest APR anyone has or has heard of for the HHonors Visa???? **
You're welcome, Jason. I will update you on my exact terms, benefits, and negotiations wrt purchase apr when I get the card. It would be nice to have P+0.9%. I think "sam" is the expert in that department with Citibank, though. I still don't qualify for Citibank retention. :-(
I applied and received the hhonors visa sig. last month. I also have a 5k credit line but the rep said I could charge an additional $1250 for a total line of 6250 but I can't revolve more than 5k. They also pulled all three reports on me. I wish I wouldn't applied because that no preset limit doesn't apply to me.
Thanks, Gordon, for the info. I don't need the "no preset limit" thing but I am not tying to give up Hilton points. Also, I want to use C2it.Com and use this CitiUSA card to "purchase" a balance from my Citibank card. If I can do that, and the transactions register as purchases, then I will hopefully acquire some Hilton points in the process.
Update: I got the "Visa Signature" Card at a "go to" of prime + 7.99 (uuggghhhh...). Customer service said that I cannot reduce the go to rate period. That P+7.99 is the assigned apr on their cards and there is no reduction possible. Is that true, guys? What are your purchase aprs? I definitely like the signature benefits and the Hilton points.
I think mine is + 4.99 or +5.99, but I don't have the signature card. I requested a conversion to signature this weekend. They better not increase my rate. It's already too high for my taste. Once my 0% is up, I won't be revolving any balance on this card.
