I inadvertantly caused a poster in another forum to think he shouldn't sign the privacy form at his Dr.'s office.I hope he goes back and signs, as his insurance can't pay without it.

The new HIPAA rules are PRO consumer PRO privacy statutes. It is NOT the same thing as signing away your right to privacy as you might get in a credit investigation.

The ONLY time the HIPAA rules are useful for credit repair would be for health care services provided BEFORE the act was in force, and then ONLY within certain VERY limited situations.

PLEASE do NOT refuse to sign the new forms at your HC provider or pharmacy, you would prevent your insurance from paying, and you might be endangering your health.
