I can't believe what just came in the mail.....

My updated Equifax report with a repo gone, and an unpaid collection gone!!!! Now the only things left are paid collections which should fall off under NY law in the next 6 months or so! Then I'm totally clean on Equifax!

    I can't freakin believe it!!!!!

    Citi....here I come!!!!

    Congrats Erica!

Out of curiosity, since you've been at this awhile, I assume that this is a listing that had resisted prior efforts to remove it, what finally did the trick?

Yes, this is the listing that keeps coming back verified. Honestly, I don't know what did it. I don't even remember disputing it. Oh Well, it is off now, and frankly, I don't care what did it as long as it stays off. :)

I think what really did it was I kept disputing it as not mine. They may have gotten sick of me disputing it. This is an unpaid repo from 1997, 4 years ago this month, they may have just purged me from their records and when they did, it may have worked to my advantage.

BTW, they never got a judgement on me for the balance.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!! I sent the CA a validation letter and they NEVER responded. Maybe that was it.

Quixote, this is the letter I sent. I sent it regular mail, no return receipts involved. No bells and whistles either.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks!

Please pardon my picking at this, but did you also send in a dispute to the CRA simultaneously?

Not that I remember. I think I just sent out the validation letters. Both letters were the same to two different CA's. The unpaid collection was Discover and was with Midland Credit Management, and the unpaid repo was from Primus Financial Services and was with NAFS. I sent them, NAFS, the val letter after I called them to find out why they kept pulling my report. They told me that they had the repo for collection, and I thought that since I called them I should send a validation letter so they didn't call me back. I guess they didn't have anything on me, so it was removed. I think I sent the letter sometime in September, and I haven't heard from them since.

Same thing happened to me on Equifax w/ a Student Loan that was reporting as a paid collection (if I remember correctly). I just kept disputing it to DEATH every time. I would get my updated copy of my report and I would start a new investigation....NOT MINE! It finally came back deleted! I was like WTF? I think this "dispute it to death" method only works on Equifax (the main one, not an affiliate).

At any rate. That is my plan w/ this Ford Credit b.s. on my report. I'm disputing it w/ Equifax until the end!

Humm.......fishy! I'm sure our private investigators here on the board will come to a conclusion on this.

Unfortunatley they resolve to an AOL proxy so any conclusions are risky at best.

To be honest...I didn't even understand that last post ... so it could have very well been Bill :) LOL

    Erica,
I just had a late payment account that I had previously (sometime in the summer) disputed and earlier this week I also received an updated Equifax saying that account was deleted.

Like you, I don't recall re-disputing it but I have been lax with my record keeping lately, especially when on a whim I do something online instead of crr.

I now only have one negative on Equifax and that is only a 30day late in early '96 and it truly is not even mine. I WILL be able to get that off soon so I'll have a perfect file, finally as long as this other one doesn't come back.

    Yeah!!!!

Just a thought...maybe Equifax is cleaning house after some lawsuits came in against them for not really verifying. Who knows.
