I was out with my aunt today and we stopped at the new Home Depot. Well, she appiled for a card... I was shocked to see that they had approve her for $15,000!!! She was just like "oh." She has like no credit cards, but owns a lot of property. Her only other cards are Lowes ($10,000), and a May charge. Amazing! I wonder what her FICO is, lol. She hates credit too. Any reasonh why HD gives such high limits? My dad has a card and they haven't given him an increase in 6 years. The card is still at 500.

The magic word is property and presumably perfect credit. Home Depot wants your aunt's business.

I was not aware that the CRs report properties just mortgages.

I'm thinking that the Lowes 10k CL played a large part into it and perhaps history.

    Best regards,
    Mirage

    • And, we are back again to the question "Do the lenders see the same information we see?" Lots of properties means lots of repairs and, as hoapres mentioned - they want her business.

Yes it is, George! Imagine if that happened on a Target Guest Card?

    ;)

TARGET GUEST is known for $200-$500

"IF" I applied for a HOME DEPOT card for my PURGO WOOD FLOOR AND RUGS...they would have LOST THE SALE WITH A LIMIT OF ANYTHING LESS THAN $9,000!!!

WE USED DISCOVERCARD...didn't apply...had no idea they would give $9,000 or more

HD had no idea about the properties, unless there are mortgages tied to them, and they wouldn't have any other info but multiple mortgages.

They could see the Lowe's credit line, and being a competitor, and given her good history, it makes sense to give a similar line.
