    Hello,

I have only 2 secured cards, with 6 months history. As suggested by other members I would like to apply for department store card. My choice is Home Depot department card.

I would appreciate if you could share your experience about this card.

Is it easy to get or not?
Do they report to all 3 major bureaus, and which CRA they pull?

I applied for home depot awhile ago. At the time they pulled EFX almost exclusively.

I was denied with only one derog on the EFX that was about five years old.

    They are pretty picky.

    Is this a Citibank card?

    It's issued by Monogram.

I only wanted the cc cuz' I was doing a lot of home repairs and wanted the 10% q-pons they give with the card.

Of course, after I was denied and finished with my home repairs and the last derog. came off, I was sent a lot of pre-approvals for the card.

I just went on their site. It says it is issued by Citibank.

The Home Depot Consumer credit card. How low/high CL can be?

They switched from Monogram to Citibank in September 2003 and the existing accounts were transferred - the service improved straightaway.

IMO Monogram are a horrible outfit to deal with - I paid our Home Depot account in full every month and they wouldn't increase the credit line in three years - Citibank bumped it up straightaway.

Now it is issued by Citibank USA and previously was issued by MCCBG. I got my card back in 98 thru pre-appoval that came with my ExxonMobil Gas Card statement . They approved me with a couple of charge-off accounts.

    Jason,

I couldn't tell you how hard to get because I got my card back in 98 when the card was issued by Monogram. They report all 3 credit bureaus monthly and it will show as follow:

    Exp: CBUSA
    TU: The Home Depot
    EQ: Citibank USA,Na

starting with account: 6035 XXXX XXXX XXXX

My wife (AMG I'm married now) got a pre-approved HD offer last year. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with us refinancing the house but her credit is, uh, "less than ideal" but she got the card anyway.

If you want a retail TL, have you thought about a jewelry store? When I was getting her ring last year, I decided on an upscale retail jeweler because of a special sale and 1 yr no interest offer. I didn't get approved for 100% of the purchase due to some derogs BUT the credit associate said if I could put a minimun 20% down via other means (cash, check, Visa etc) then they will automatically approve me for the rest of the purchase...even though the 80% remainder would exceed my approved credit limit!

So yes, while my CL was only X they charged X + $600 to my account. Yes, I'm technically overlimit but there are no fees for this situation. And yes, I'm > 100% utilization but overall I'm at 45% when you factor in all my other accounts. But remember, I'm going to have this puppy paid off in 8 months!

Anyway, you'll probably find that jewelry stores (Zales, Gordon's, Bailey Banks & Biddle etc) are very willing to work with people.

I'm also interested in this card.

Which CRA they pull? Easy to get or not? Report to all 3 CRA's?

    Thanks,
    Denny

Called the customer service and asked whether you have any chance to get approval of the card.

Here is the customer service no:

    800-677-0232.

Re: Re: Home Depot department card?

    Thank you Ron so much!

But I donâ??t think they will be much of help, since they first have to pull up my credit file to determinate my chance of the approval..

Jason, the link that Ron gave you in the other thread is probably the best source for you. People generally post the creditor, their score, what cr was pulled, and whether they were approved or not.

It is maintained by Psychdoc, a longtime poster here and elsewhere.
