this weekend dh received a preapproved credit card offer from home depot. it came with a temp card and a $750.00 limit listed on the little card. what's strange is, we checked all three reports and there is no promotional inquiry of any sort from home depot-mccbg. does home depot possibly use a dif method to offer preapprovals? just curious...
In my case I received a preapproval for $1,250. When I activated the card online there was no hard inquiry generated. I got the card in March and have already had my limit increased to $3,400. You can request an increase immediately and every three months after that. Don't use the automated system. Speak to a customer service person and ask what the maximum increase you qualify for is.
thanks for the tip.. are you saying PRIOR to activating the actual card, to call HOME DEPOT and request an increase though?
No. You can go online and accept the card and then call in. You don't have to do it beforehand. BTW: Lowe's works the same way.
thanks DaveLV, we actually accepted this morning by telephone. They told us 7 -10 bus days for the card. we'll call once we get the card. any idea though..how they do the preapprovals if they are not on the credit reports?
I had this inquiry on my TU: 11/2001 HOME DEPOT/MBGA CREDIT C This led to the preapproval they mailed me in March.
