    Help the
Okay, he's not really homeless, he's got an apartment, but he'd like to buy a home.

I have a customer who has tried the services of a credit repair person with mixed results. He started with three scores in the mid 500's and after two months, he's got two scores in the upper 500's and one that's dropped into the 400's.

As near as I can tell, this credit repair person just used a shot-gun approach, sending a "not me" letter on everything negative.

His biggest problem is student loans. About three years ago he let a bunch of them fall behind before consolidating them into one big loan. Previously these had been reporting as paid collections with zero balances, now they're reporting as "claim filed with government for insured portion of balance on loan" and "special handling - contact subscriber if more info is required" and then the balance (which is zero) is not reporting at all. These are on Experian.

He has other negative issues, but this is the big one.

Any ideas on a next step?

The very system that you condone has come back to haunt you.
Ever stop to think of how much the scam of credit scoring and reporting is costing you in the form of lost customers?
On the one hand you condone the corruption and on the other hand you moan about loosing clients over it.

With a commission on the line, credit repair may have merit. Seriously Mycroft just knowing about, and being willing to point a customer in the direction of credit repair may put a few more deals in your pocket every year.

He must not know how much money the corrupt FICO & CRAs are costing him.
