It's always something - isn't it. JEEZ LOUISE! Last weekend I leased an Acura (nice car btw - but that's a different post). Anyhoo - the deal was - I traded in my Honda (that I bought a couple of years ago - not leased) - Acura is going to pay off my loan with American Honda Finance. Sweet. A day later I check Experian - there's an inquiry from the Acura dealership - no problem - i knew that. HOWEVER - the plot thickens. TODAY I check Experian and lo and freakin behold there's a HARD inquiry form AMERICAN HONDA FINANCE! i call Honda - ask sweetly - what gives? The rep asks me to hold comes back and explains that Acura is part of Honda - ok - i knew that - and that American Honda Finance had to approve the lease so they checked my report. Ummmmm - huh???? The Acura dealership checked my report on the spot - approved it - and I drove outta there with the leased car. Well, she asks me to hold again, comes back and says "I'm sorry Mark LA, but it also had to be approved by us." Well - why didn't you look at the report Acura already pulled? "They didn't give it to us!!!" WTF!!!!! Unforutnately - Doc's trick no work no more and i'm stuck with this additional inquiry which caused another 5 point drop (btw - I thought multiple auto inquiries count as one - looks like it ain't so...) Any suggestions anyone? Thanx in advance Mark LA
Nissan pulled the same crap with me in June. The dealer pulled my report when I was there. Got approved for the 4.9%. 2 weeks later, Nissan Acceptance pulls my report. Why? To make sure the dealer paid off my old loan. What a crock. First of all, it would have taken probably at least 6 weeks for that to be reported, and secondly, all they had to do was call the lienholder. I got no where with my complaints.
btw... regarding multiple auto/mortgage apps. counting only once.... I noticed the following sentence on MyFICO the other day... "The scores can identify "rate shopping" in the mortgage- and auto-lending environment, so that one credit search involving multiple inquiries is usually only counted as a single inquiry." wonder what would cause it to count them as a single inquiry sometimes and not others... another fico mystery I guess. Mark, can you go back to the dealership and ask if They will delete Their inq? It sounds like they didn't follow thru with the HAF policies, maybe... ???
Re: HONDA Hard Inquiry Headache-HEL what BS. jeez! i'm thinking of sending a "delete inquiry or send me $1000 bucks for pulling without permissable purpose" letter - but I'm not sure if I can prove the permissable purpose part.
Re: HONDA Hard Inquiry Headache-HEL hey burbs - good idea! hadn't thought of that - I'll call them tomorrow - the Acura people were really nice when i got the car - no pressure - no sleaze - really seemed like not your typical dealership. I'll give it a shot. thanx burbs!
This is going to happen 99 times out of 100, they dealer pulls your CR to see how to "work the deal" (AKA how they can screw you) then they tell the finance company what kind of deal they want to put together. And if the finance company wants to "buy the paper" they will run your report to make sure that the numbers the dealer turned in are accurate. In other words no one trusts a car dealer! Sorry about the INQ, but I hope you like the ride. P.S. be happy you have good scores and they got the deal bought on the 1st lender, if you have even simi poor credit they will "shop the deal around" and you can get 5 or 6 INQ on one car.
Re: HONDA Hard Inquiry Headache-HEL usually huh? what kinda halfassed thing is that? JEEZ (thanx for the quote though - kirk)
