I just noticed on my credit report that a Hospital is reporting that I owe a balance from like 4yrs ago but I dont remember this what do I do to validate this and what is the process to get it removed without having to pay because that will still make my credit go down. "Of all the things I miss, I miss my mind the most" Exp. 524 to 583 present
Send one of the validation letters (from sample section) to the Collection department of the Hospital. Modify one you like to put the letter in your words, but don't change the intent and demands for validation. Send CRRR. Then when you get the green card back, send a dispute letter (also from sample section) to the CRAs reporting the listing. When you get, or do not get, the results from these letters in 30-45 days (even up to 60 if they wait long enough before accepting the certified mail), post your results and someone can help you from there. Hopefully it will result in immediate deletion of the information, but usually one of several other outcomes happens and I wouldn't want to speculate. Good Luck. -Peace, Dave
I now hate hospitals. Apparently I have an OLD (over 6 years) hospital bill that the idiots did NOT file with my insurance. Well, I THOUGHT I was getting back $679 in state income taxes this year (first refund in years). Today I received a notice from the SC Dept of Revenue - they 'stole' my tax refund and gave it to the hospital to pay the bill. Our state law says they can seize the refund to pay 'state or local agencies' - this hospital is NOT state/county/city operated... it is a privately run hospital. Damn it, I am suing someone. I never received a bill, never received a notice saying they were seizing my state refund.
