Around a month ago I got a letter in the mail from Household stating that I was pre approved to refinance my auto loan. I had built my credit score up quite a bit since I originally bought the car, so I figured, sure, why not? So I called them. It would figure that I was turned down. Two days ago I got the EXACT same offer in the mail again! I thought about calling them and asking them what the heck was going on, but I figured I would get opinions here first. If I wasn't approved a month ago, I KNOW I won't be approved now! I know how the "pre approval" farce works, so no need to educate me there... I was just wondering how this could happen.

Those mailings have almost nothing to do with your ability to get a loan. Household buys millions of names from the credit bureaus...lists of people who meet a certain criteria...and then sends them that mailing.

Its not like Household reviewed your credit report before sending you the approval. It's just a marketing thing.

Yes. Its just habit for companies to bombard people with"pre-approvals".

I refinanced with household 6 months ago, and i still get pre-apprivals from them. lol.

Same ,here, I refinanced my loan for a lower rate after I built up my credit score. I have since had the CRA put me on the do not solict list, and also the list by the DMA, go figure, I still get plenty of junk mail. LOL....
