I have two accounts with Household (actually Orchard). The first opened in 1994 is a classic card (no benefits ) which has a $5K limit. The second one opened in 1998 is a gold card with a limit of $3,100. I've been trying for months to consolidate them by talking to the customer disservice representatives. Finally after three calls, I received a letter acknowledging my request and asking me to fill out a "Consolidation Update Form." which has some pernicious waiver language that said, "You may furnish on a regular basis, credit and experience information regarding my account and my account numbers to others seeking such information." To this, I added the phrase, "who are legally entitled to such information." I then received a letter stating that I didn't qualify for a consolidation because the maximum credit line for consolidations is $5,000 and my consolidation would exceed this amount. They must have known this before they sent me the form. These people are turkeys. Think it's time to kick Orchard to the curb and move on. I don't like the 15.9 APR anyway and I certainly don't care for this bullshit either.
You are absolutely right about HH (Orchard), That's why I paid off my account yesterday and plan to put it in the sock drawer, keeping it just to boost my ratios. Orchard sux. I've had the card for a year...they just renewed it and sent me a letter congatulating me on the renewal and praising me for my excellent credit management. Now here's the sucky part. I called to get a line increase for the first time and was denied!!! They said I'd have to secure the line increase! What B.S.! Orchard can k.m.b. Calmest_LA
Calmest_LA, I have GM card for a year and they haven't increased my limit even a single time. I requested once and they denied me. Ron.
