I received a preapproval from Household bank. It had the fake looking card with it. How real is this? Is Household an okay card? I have three retail cards. I have a VISA and Mastercard from Cap 1. I think I need one more bank card for a good mix. Is this a decent card?

We got the household gold with a $750 cl at 14.74%. It is cheesy looking, but it is a real visa. We haven't used it yet, but Household has online account management, bill pay, etc. You can apply with your preselect ID number online and they give you your CL in a few secs. They appear to be legit.

I fot the offer for up to $1500 Cl and got approved online for $1500. The card is a little cheesy looking but has done me good. 18.9% rate but I don't usually carry a balance. Good online tools but no toll free Customer Service #.

I got two of those within a month of each other. One had a $59 annual fee, the other a $79 annual fee with $19 application fee. I returned the better offer for "up to $1500" and was rewarded with a $300 credit limit. When I thought of calling to ask for a higher limit, I realized that Household Bank, subprime division, doesn't even have a toll-free customer service line.

I think there are much better banks out there. Although it can be flattering to receive a preapproved offer, many of them are exploitive and ruinously expensive. I've never even considered returning numerous preapproved offers from First Premier, for example. Learn from my experience and avoid Household Bank until you get better offers from real banks.

My wife got the preapproval in the mail with the goofy-looking card - got approved online for $1500 - her scores are lower than mine (high 500's)!

    No fees or anything.

Did they do another inquiry when you did the online approval with your 'pre-approval'?

I would say Household is th ebest dub-prime back there is. either housebold or their orchard back. I got appoved for a 300cl. all they chareg is 49.00 annual fee+ 19.00 setup fee. Much better then other subprime accounts. Just applied and got the orchard bank card 4 months after the household. 500.00 limit.
