    Short history:

Household Bank (QVC card) applied June and July 2002 payment to wrong acct. I faxed & mailed copies of cashed checks. I called & screamed for months but they kept sending me "pay now" letters. Finally in Dec. I got a letter that says they applied money to wrong acct. and were taking off late fees etc. and applying money to acct. But the same time they are sending me this letter they are reporting to all 3 CRAs a 30 and a 60 day late for Nov. & Dec. And my January payment was cashed but not applied to acct! I got another late fee for Jan. I told them i will not send anymore payments until they fix this and apply the money I did send. I have had "supervisors" in 3 state say they will find out what is going on, but never do. I think the 30 and 60 day late has been fixed on the CRAs, but now I have sent a check copy for Jan. payment to Household as they requested and they STILL send me demands for payment after I tell them I am disputing. Are there $ penalties for falsely reporting lates to CRAs even if they have now removed them and $ penalties for continuing money demands while I am trying to get the account straight?

they are very unorganized. I've had them call 2-3 weeks or so after I've sent them a check and they ask me "why haven't you paid yet?" They eventually convince me to pay over the phone and to cancel my check i sent them. But when I go to cancel the check after the call , the bank tells me it cleared 3 days or so earlier!! They did this to me before on my car loan as well when i was already over 30 days late (ie, the check was for a few payments in total), so I ended paying a few grand extra! then I was screwed on my other bills because i was out of cash!
They've helped me out by the mere fact of extending me credit during a difficult time, but man do they have a piss poor back office.

Here are a couple of cake takers.

1* Get hit with a late pay because the second check was paid after the due date.

2* Get hit with a late pay because the creditor held your check because the check amount didn't match the payment due.
