My friend recently got a preapproval for household gold card, states 0% for pruchases and BT for 6 months, then 11.24 there after ( kinda high). creditlines up to 10K.

Just curious how houseohold is and what type of lines they generally offer??

I don't have any household bank cards and I am not sure what to tell him. He doesn,'t want a low limit toy card.

His scores are are in the high 600's and from what i read they like to pull Equifax, his score there is 698.

From what I remember household seems to be a totally subprime bank correct??

Yep! They must be sub-prime because I have them. Just got the regular Household card with a $1500 limit and 18.9%. My score for Eq=614, TU=533, Exp=597. I just filed chp7 bk and they sent me a preapproved card. So sub-prime it must be.

No. They are not totally subprime. They own Orchard Bank, and they do have subprime cards, but they also have the GM card which is not a subprime card.

They also issue the Union Plus credit card. This card is for union members and even has a"strike" provision should you go on strike the card gets paid.

It also has no annual fee, supposedly competive APR and they also offer a secured card. I wrote to their executive office to see if they would convert my Orchard Bank MC to the Union Plus. It has an APR pf 15.9% but it also has a $69 annual fee that they will not waive regardless of who I write to.

I was just approved for the HH gold MC in Sept w/ the same offer you mentioned. 0% 6 mo, 11.9% after I have no annual fee dispite what some have posted( I double checked the paper work and called CS)

I have to say that the people I have spoken to are very frendly. not just your normal dry bankers. I did ask for a CL increase when I activated and was declined "account too new" I haven't had it very long so I can't give you much more. my scores are below

    bailey,

I applied for GM Card from Household Bank and they approved me for $1500 two years ago. They didn't increase my credit limit until I asked for one. They pulled credit report from Equifax.

Thanks all. I knew the GM card offered a little better terms and lines, but I think with the gold card I will tell him to pass.

    Ok ...

is there a difference between a Prime and Sub-Prime account on your credit report???

also does having mostly "Sub-prime" accounts prevent you from getting a prime account?

i have the union plus secured m/c , sent them 100$ deposit
for a 250$ credit limit. ive had it for 8+ months.
im over paid on my account by 100$. so i apply for more credit after the 6 month probation period, they tell me to send more deposit money. wtf i sent them 100$ over my credit limit last month and they still wont touch me.

im working on my credit, but it just sucks.
