It was suggested to us to refi our truck through People (People's???) First as we have a Cap1 loan now.

However, a Household account was included in DH's bankruptcy.

Do you think this will result in a big fat no regardless of our credit now?

Sorry, I can't give you an answer to your question. However, I thought I should tell you that People First is a Cap One company; therefore, I don't know whether you will be able to refi with them. I'd do a little research before applying. (Goto PeopleFirst.com and look at the Privacy Policy. You will see that it is a Cap One company.)

Yeah, I was under the assumption that Cap1 and People's First were related somehow. But people's website says it is a Household affiliate. Are Household and Cap1 related?

I was hoping that someone else had good luck with refi through PF. Anyone??

I think you will be surprised at how little communication there is between different branches of the same company.

That's what I was hoping for.

But after hearing the horror stories of people being turned down for things because they've had bad credit with an affiliate, I thought I'd better ask.

What kinds of scores are usually needed to refi? Is the loan determined like a regular auto loan or are there special rules? We have been making over $600/mo. payments for a year, never late. I would think that would have to count for something.
