Back in Nov. 2002 I got the HH M/C and was denied Best Buy. My scores were in the 680 range while disputes pending with EQ. My M/C limit is only $500. I've never charged it to more than 50% and always paid more than min. on time. Granted, it's only been 4 months but this week, was denied for a CL increase.

Well, Monday I disputed the only 4 negs left on my EQ and my score went from ......get this......603 to 765!!!!

Yes, now I'm trying to figure out how to get a good card and transfer two maxed out, over the limit old accounts to. (Discover/Sears). They're killing me with the fees, not to mention what those ratios are doing to my scores.

HH is the only one that I'm TOTALLY sure pulls EQ only in my area (Arkansas). Most everyone pulls TU around here. I really, really, REALLY want a GM card or Corvette card but I'm afraid when I apply online that since I have the crappy $500 cl on the HH M/C it will be a red flag even though I temporarily have a EQ score of 765. Anyone have any experience like this? I've read lots of posts about the GM approvals and such but nothing about anyone who has the M/C already and then goes for another card with them.

I know AMEX also pulls EQ for me and was denied them back in Nov. with a inflated 680. Maybe I should try them again? Any suggestions? Even if GM jacks the rate, as long as they let me keep the account open it would help me consolidate some much worse accounts until I get my other reports finished and can qualify for some better "quality" cards.

Thanks - you guys always give such great suggestions!

An HH rep told me that the different HH cards have different standards for approval, and different card limit computations.

I'd apply for a GM card. Your limit does not depend so much on your score as what you put as income.

My husband had one of those $500 limit Orchard cards opened this past December.

In Feb, his EQ score jumped up to 681 because of some disputes.

He applied online, and he was approved for a $1000 GM card, $2000 Corvette card and $2500 Union Plus.

    So....it is possible :)

Do you have to be a union member to get the union card??

Well - applied and got $1000 on GM card!! Great start but it won't really help with my balance transfer idea. I don't know about trying to get an increase before I activate it because I don't really WANT them to LOOK at my CR, LOL.

Anyway, sounds like I should go ahead and try for the Corvette card too maybe? Or how about Best Buy, don't have it yet either. Don't want to push my luck too far!!

Thanks for the suggestions. Each card I've been able to (finally) get has been a bit better than the last. Part of the process I guess. That fake jump in my score to 765 helped get me motivated to get the rest of the neg's off of my reports and make that score the real one :)
