Household subprime to prime

I closed my Household and Orchard cards last week after deciding I would never be prime with them since I started subprime. On the same day I also sent them a planetfeedback telling them I closed the accounts and why.

Today I got a call back from Household offering me a standard MasterCard with a 0% rate for six months and then prime +7.4% no annual fee and a $2,000 limit if I would reopen an account. The woman who called me said these are their "prime" terms (although I know they offer fixed 9.9% of some of their products) and my account would not fall under their subprime division.

$2,000 seems low to me. My limits on the subprime accounts I closed were $1,900 (Household) and $1,450 (Orchard). On the other hand this would be my first successful subprime to prime conversion. I would not be able to keep the prior account history if I accept -- it would show up as a new account.

I'm inclined to take the deal. Any thoughts? How are they with credit limit increases and APR reductions?

Oh -- I forgot to add there is also a 0% for six months BT option. My first ever 0% offer.

George is much better off scorewise than I am, so I would jump on Household's offer. It's a decent offer, and I wish I were in your situation. I don't think I will ever get a prime card, despite the fact that my credit is looking good. You have a window of opportunity. Take it!

Dave, what is your current lowest limit card?? I would request that they atleast match it then maybe you would consider accepting their offer.

    Hope as is well:)

I recently opened an account with Household, and personally, I am not at all impressed with them. I think there are better cards out there ;)

If you have a limit above $2,000 use that as your min.

I was suggesting $5,000 because they MIGHT just say OK...

They wouldn't say NO WAY...now you can't have the $2,000 because you asked for $5,000!!!

My current lowest limit card is Capital One at $1,750. I am thinking of closing it. My next lowest limit is from my credit union at $2,500. My highest limits are $10,500, $9,849 and $9,500. I was just approved for BofA Platinum at $8,600.

I certainly don't need the Household card but I'm jazzed that I finally got through to them and they are willing to upgrade me.
