Even though they have records of me requesting closure of the GMCARD TOY $500 on their records.

they did not close the card.

They said they will not change the date of closure back to december when i got the card.

I told them to just leave it open since the damage is already done.

    those BASTAGES!!!!!!!!!

    Sam,

Did they send you a letter CONFIRMING that the account was closed by your request ?

They reason I ask it that I had problems with these same clowns when Levitz left Tx & I requested that my account closed due to no planned usage.

I noticed a few months down the road that my requested had not been complied with on my Equifax.

But I had their letterhead still confirming what was to be;to this day I still retain that paperwork because they are known for "no documentation" practices.

They said they will send a letter admitting that they made a mistake on december, however the close date is as of today....

I'm like WTF??? does that do me. I'm all riled up today.

I just got off the phone with MBNA trying to get old trade lines deleted.

I'm pretty sure that there must be some benefit
to Household (in their total portfolio) to retain
your account as open after you close it.

They have a tricky letter that they send you when
you call to close an account. Whereas most legit
companies send you a nice letter-- "We have
regrettfully closed your account at your request, if you ever decide to reopen...... Household's letter
(at least the first one if you don't raise a stink) says
"At your request, your account HAS BEEN CLOSED TO FURTHER ACTIVITY"

In other words-- NOT CLOSED just reduced to a zero credit limit!

I haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure that if you called
up Citibank customer service re: an old account you
closed and punched in the number, it would say something like "no record found-- or that account doesn't exist."

On Household, years after you have *closed* the account, it will give you your account information, along with the helpful info that your last payment
was received in xx and that you have zero available credit.

It's crazy!! They have also been known to finally list account # 01234567 as closed and then suddenly create a new duplicate account 76543210 that is open.

They definitely have some ulterior motive to keep your account open.

    So be very careful.
