how bad is Household CC?

Decided not to go w/an offer for Orchard after hearing what people said here. So now Household sends me an offer for a "gold" MC that sounds like better terms than the Orchard card - no annual fee, 14.9 interest, "up to" $5k CL and no fee on BTs. However, there are no BTs if your CL is under $1k and it does say "$300 minimum CL"

I would assume this is a similar outfit to the Orchard card I passed on. Any experiences, good or bad, w/this type of card?

As far as I'm concerned, with all I've read about Household, all their cards are subprime. I think you can do better elsewhere.

Actually, I can't. Have applied recently to BofA, Chase and Amex, turned down because of BK.

Only offers I've gotten have been Orchard and now Household. The terms sound decent, just wondering if this card is any better than the Orchard.

I got a household with scores lower than yours. I got a 700 limit. I signed up on their website to pay my bills there. I always pay the balance in full. It is a great TL for me. I have never had any problems or hassles with them and when I needed a new fridge, they had no problem increasing my CL to accomodate!
(my BK13 is 6 year old but was less than 5 years old when I applied)

You know this is the same company right?

I have both of these cards. The orchard card started out as a $500 secured card 5 years ago. It is now unsecured with a $2500 limit. It sucks, they charge to apply for a CL increase. I am only keeping it because it is my oldest account.

The gold card is a lot better. It started out 3 years ago at 3k and it is now up to $7500, all automatic, they have never changed my rate, and will even waive the annual fee if I call.

They have the same customer service number for both, but they know you are Orchard by the account number and will treat you sub-prime.

I thought they were the same company, but having no prior experience was not certain.

This card sounds like it *could* be a "real" card - no annual fee, 20 day grace period and no BT fees on $1k. The interest rates are not all that appealing, 15% and maybe 18% on cash/BTs and there's the possibility of having a $300 CL. But w/no annual fee, and my recent denials telling me that though my scores are good, my BK says I'm not ready for prime-time cards, I might take them up on this offer. As I've said, it's not like I'm flooded w/offers. Last one was Orchard and that did have an annual fee, so I passed. Previous to that was a car loan offer from Cap1.

They don't write, they don't call.. sigh...

You got a better offer than I got, the apr tied to my offer was 18.9 and would never be lower.

The way it reads, I don't think this puppy will go lower and there are 50 ways to get it raised. How long ago did you get their offer?

I have this card (Also for an pre-approved offer I got in the mail. I applied last year and was approved 5K limit 0% BT for six months (The standard interest rate is around 14.74%).

I have had the card for around 7 months and they just sent me another Bal transfer checks for 0% for 6 months. Also I got another checks(And on their web site) for for 5.9 until paid in full.

It´s a good card for balances transfers and they report to all three CRAs. Go for it!.

I received the same cc in 2002 with a cl of $3500. I used it soley for the BT 0%(6 months). It served it's purpose! The ending of last year I cancelled the Gold cc because HH sent me another approval for a platinum with an APR 6.9%, in which I accepted.

So far, it's sounding like a better option than Cap1 (already have) or the Orchard card (passed on it, no more fees, pleez!).

It's great to get this kind of feedback. I probably would have passed w/out hearing these comments.

ON THE PLUS SIDE HOUSEHOLD was my highest CREDIT LIMIT $17,000 in the days that NO OTHER CARD WAS MORE THAN $5,000

    INTEREST WAS PRIME -.15%

THEN THEY SOLD IT TO FLEET...

FLEET JACKED ME TO DEFAULT RATE...BECAUSE IT WAS SOLD IN A CLOSED STATE TO THEM...THEY "THOUGHT" THEY COULD GET AWAY WITH IT!!!

    THEY DIDN'T!!!

As far as i know Household is prime. 0% for 6 months with no fee is not offered by subprime Banks. Also the GM card issued by them has good terms.

This Bank is a lot better than Orchard bank, or Crap One Bank.

I just got the GM Card and so far, so good. Also got the Corvette Card, and Customer Service was very helpful.

I agree, it's better than Crap One and Orchard, but add to the list - Providian. They're horrible.
