How Bad Is This???

I used the USPS online service to send 4 nutcase letters out a few days ago. This morning I received an e-mail from the USPS with the subject line reading "Technical Difficulties" and asking me to call an 800 number.

I call right away & get transfered to a supervisor, who advises me that the computer system went "haywire" that day and that rather than sending my letters out, random postal information along with parts of my letter were sent to each company with my name & return address attached! The supervisor assured me that because of this situation they have "taken steps to prevent this from happening again" (gee, thanks mister!) and I would get a refund for their error (I guess so!). They are also following up by sending each company a letter saying that their system sent "random postal information" and that they should just "disregard" what they received from me.

Later today, I found out that 2 companies have received my letter when I got the return receipt back.

I figure that I'll need to send these letters again (this time driving my lazy butt to the post office like I should of in the first place!) and I'm hoping that if they recognize me from my first letter they will truly think I'm a nutcase! Maybe this will be a future technique listed with the others in the FAQ section....NOT!

Thanks for posting this info. I've always been really skeptical of the on-line postal services and believe that sending the letter at the PO is one way to avoid all of this.

I hope that this didn't hinder your credit repair process too much.

Damn. Just in my own personal opinion these things should be done the old fashioned way. CRRR snail mail.

I don't trust the PO or disputing online, or even faxes for that matter. I've done everything CRRR.

I hope they didn't get information that will hurt your cause.

    :(

    I am sorry this happened.

I have always thought that the online postal services that enable you to send letters online were the best.

I too hope this doesn't hurt your progress.

    I hope everything works out..

It was my first time using it & I thought I'd just give it a try (cost the same minus the travel hassle). Everything happens for a reason, right? I'll keep you posted on any responses & future progress.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to the post office, I go!
