9/2003? I'm reading this and it doesn't make since. Someone yesterday pointed out that zales was sold to CA, recalled, now Citibank owns them. Not sure if that is what makes the reporting as it is? Date opened: 9/96; Reported since 2/01; status: 2/01; last report 3/01; $0 bal as of 3/01; history: charge off as of 2/01, 3/01; status: $455 written off. As I've said before, I *know* that we paid them over $450 in 10/98. I received money from an estate, went into a Zales store with the amount due in full in hand, and walked away. No communication with them sense, except for me calling the CA and asking how this could be and them telling me they got the account from Zales, blah blah blah, can only verify the information they have and it's correct. The account may possibly have been charged off at the point we paid (although I don't think so) but it was still paid in full. We've disputed and it keeps coming back verified. It is off of two credit reports, just not the third. Does anything jump out here as to what direction I should go? Know I sort of asked this yesterday, but I was looking into it further today and realy read all the boxes, lol. Thank you!
They are using the date opened instead of the DOFD. Nevertheless, this negative would come off your report prematurely (to your advantage). Are you complaining?
Yes I am complaining, because the DOFD is WRONG. Which makes it look worse when we are trying to get a mortgage. The fall off date is in sync with the *CORRECT* DOFD. I'm not upset about it falling off--I would like to speed that up since it's due to happen this fall anyway. Just so you know, this 2001 stuff is new information in the past year, different from what was reporting (which I'm assuming is because of yet another sale? why are they selling paid accounts? the old CA told me it was paid in full the first time I disputed it). And it's been removed off of every report but Experian. I'm also not thrilled that they are reporting an amount written off when this is inaccurate information. But every time I dispute it with Experian it comes back verified. So I'm looking for a better plan of attack.
