Hi CAWatchdog - thank you for responding. It's d actually on all 3. I lived there 2.5 years ago and had a mortgage at that residence. I need to dispute the fact that the mort. they have on my CR isn't mine (it shows as still current even though it was foreclosed on) but I can't do that until I've asked the CRA to remove that address. I guess my concern (I'm new to all of this) / confusion is how do I justify that it's the wrong address when I have a mortgage showing up with that same address. Your guidance is greatly appreciated. Shanyl
Here is my thought on disputing the mortgage... If the entry is showing up as current (and not as a negative trade line), then I wouldn't dispute it, yet. If it is a negative trade line EX will show a - XX - hyphens on both front and back of their item number. Disputing bad addresses is always a good idea, depending on the CRA, you may have an impossible time getting rid of them, but its good to get rid of them, for other reasons than to make disputes easier (possibility of sending unsolicited solicitations to the wrong address, which could lead to fraudulent accounts being issued in your name; is one of the best reasons to get rid of any bad address, especially ones which are old).

Shanyl, any address that is not my address is inaccurate, including my former addresses. I don't live there, period. I nearly pulled my greying hair out one day encouraging Experian to delete the obsolete, inaccurate addresses. Experian's inability to disclose the "source" of the false information was the kicker. Name variations, SSN variations, inaccurate addresses, etc... Experian considers all of this information useful to its customers, never mind the obvious pitfall of IDENTITY THEFT. I can't think of what else this CRA could do in order to perpetuate the fastest growing crime in America. I'm serious.
Re: Re: How can I dispute addy when I have Thanks for responding jam237. The entry shows "current" but it's not been updated since 2001 (likely because the OC knows that if they do, they'll be admitting to some big errors on their part. No one I've ever spoken with in the mortgage industry has ever heard of such a mess - and it's a HUGE national lender. The reason I need it off is that my DH and I are in the process of securing a new mortgage loan for another home. (everyone thinks we have a current one because of this). As to the -XX- I didn't realize this. TU shows XXX at the end and Exp shows XXX at the beginning of the acct number. Shanyl
Re: Re: How can I dispute addy when I have Hi CAWatchdog! Thanks for your input! I'll certainly disput them across the line then and I ask you this - when I dispute it, can I, should I, sent them "proof" of my current as past addy - none which match what they have? As to the identity theft, it's amazing to me the more I learn here that the CRAs aren't better regulated. But I won't stand on your soapbox. {smile} Shanyl
Re: Re: How can I dispute addy when I have Hi CAWatchdog! Thanks for your input! I'll certainly dispute them across the line then. 1*Should I, send them "proof" of my current addy? 2*Should I, send them "proof" of my past addy? Shanyl =============== 1*No. 2*No. Just call say never lived there please remove. That's all there is to it. Re: Re: How can I dispute addy when I have If you look at the number for the trade line... Experian shows whether the account is positive or negative similar to this. - 1 - negative trade line - 2 - negative trade line - 3 - negative trade line 4 positive trade line On TU, they have them divided into two different sections. Not sure if it would be ok to have the old mortgage on there, or not when trying to get a new mortgage or not, but in general anything which isn't reporting as a negative, you should be careful in requesting an investigation, because it could always backfire, and get deleted instead of updated the way you want it to be updated.

Re: Re: Re: How can I dispute addy when I have Originally posted by shanyl how do I justify that it's the wrong address when I have a mortgage showing up with that same address.? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just because you have a mortgage on a house there don't mean you live there. Example my uncle had houses all over town - there is no way he could have lived in all of them at the same time.
