I have an OC (paid chargeoff) who sent me a letter after I paid them saying they'd delete. I sent a copy of it to the big 3 CRAs. Exp and TU removed it. Equifax didnt. I disputed. Still they didnt remove it. I called and they said it was because the letter wasnt signed by the OC. I called the OC and asked if they'd send another letter that was signed. They said no. I disputed w Eq again, telling them that the unsigned letter is good enough. I just got their results in the mail today, and the TL is still there. ARGH! Am I able to do anything here?

Call Eq, ask for a supervisor, and request an OC Verification, and give the supervisor the information for the OC.

Basically it does the same thing, if the OC blows off the verification request, it gets deleted; if they answer telling them to delete, it gets deleted... Just make sure the OC knows to expect hearing from them, and that you have their writen promise that they would delete. If they tell Eq to keep the trade line, you have a breach of the agreement against the OC.

I had the same problem with EQ and I had documentation from the OC verifying that they agreed to delete and that they continually reported that info to EQ to delete. But EQ kept saying verified.

I decided to try faxing the info with an ITS letter to a couple EQ numbers I had hoping to get someone to help.

I faxed my letter and the documentation to Equifax at:
    770-752-1121
(This is the number listed on EQs "FAX COLLECTION DISPUTE VERIFICATION REQUEST" that they sent the CA.)
    678-795-7954
    858-565-4328

Within 3 days it was gone so I don't know which one worked but the mission was accomplished. Within a week I recieved 3 different mailings with updated credit reports showing the account was finally gone.

The BIG thing I have with these fax numbers is not to use them unless you really have a valid request with documentation. I am afraid if people bombard them with outrageous faxes then the numbers will be disconnected. Because they worked for me, I am sharing them. I want to be able to use them in the future when/if I need them.
