A question for the homeowners. Can you share how your credit scores and credit offeres improve after you got your mortgage and when is it best to apply for new credit?

We got our mortgage last July! It took 3 months before my mortgage company reported to the CRA's. Once they did, my husband was hit with offers to this day that never stop! Interestingly, I haven't been. He's gotten pre-approved cards like crazy and preapproved-car offers, etc.

Now, here's the strange thing...the house was purchased in my name on my credit. My husband is part of the purchase but his credit was never involved. Shoot, someone help me out with the technicalities here but it has something to do with the laws of Texas. Now, it only reports on my credit but he is flooded with offers as his name is on the paperwork. Now, figure that one out with me cuz I haven't yet.

I'm virtually ignored. LOL But, my scores went up about 10-15 points if I recall right. His scores were not affected as it didn't report.

Does anybody know if I can get it to report on his CR?

Thanks, I was just wondering because we tried to apply for financing for some new furniture and got turned down. Actually, it was a good thing because I really didn't want to buy anything right now but the dear wifey wanted it, so I had to try.

    Waving at Nana:))

Nana is Texas a community property state?? If so he was not on the loan, but he is on the deed. I think that's how it works??

Also our mortgage took 6 long months to report, we received NO change in scores, we do however get HELOC about 3 times a week in our mailbox, all go to the shredder of course:)

TSaul: You've closed on the loan already??

MomOf3: ::::waving right back::::: Yes, that was it. I knew it. It's a bit sexist that he gets the offers, though, isn't it? LOL
You know, Mom, if yours took 6, so did mine cuz I remember us talking about it.

You were ignored b/c you are an Avalanche fan:) Your husband must be a fan of any other team, thus, thought of in the world of credit as a good, safe, dependable bet when it comes to money:):) Just having fun of course. New schedule is out. CO and DET play back to back I believe in March....

Oh, Ok! Well, that is bizarre. Wait, we are talking about CR scoring...nothing is too bizarre for them!

ANY new account will bring your score down initially. It's due to the average age of your accounts becomeing LOWER with the new account.

As the mortgage (or any account) ages, it then BECOMES a positive factor relative to you risk scoring.

But again, initially, any new credit will lower your score, not raise it.

Oh...Ok, thought maybe we were talking about an AHL team....aren't they in the same league as the Hershey Bears?

If they were, I'm sure they would be the champions of that league as well. We'll have to hook-up online when they play each other for some colorful play by play commentary.
