I know CA's buy debts from original creditors. Is it possible that a CA did not buy the debt instead the original creditor contracted the CA to collect?
Absolutely. Our company is under contracts with 3 collection agencies. We transfer the data to them when our efforts are exhausted. They report the items to the CRA's. When they do collect funds, they keep a % and send us a check for the difference.
