How do CRA's verif Bk's?

I am wonderiung what their process is because I'm debating disputing a 94 bk as not mine.

I have had a total name change and my old name isn't on my report. My old addresses are not either. SS number is same of course.

Now, I called the contact # for the court that TU sent me, but it is wrong.

    Questions:

    1) Is this number the one they call? or do they use online verification through public record?

    2) If all info has changed except ss#, what are the odds they will delete it?

I called the court to see if my old name was still on record. It is. But, my new name is not.

Any suggestions or should I not even bother?

Go for it. If you check the court records you will probably not find your SS# anywhere. This is public record, anyone can pull it, so SS#'s are generally not kept on file for security reasons.

The CRAs must match 2 of the 3 following criteria to verify an account or public record, otherwise it can not be verified and must be deleted:

    1) Name.
    2) Address.
    3) SS#.

Just to make certain your old address has been completely removed from your cr and you should be fine.

    Thanks ryder,

Yeah, they aren't on there. But, when I called the court, I think she verified through ss#. i just told her I was curious to see if I was still in their system. Gave my old name to her.

My tu account is locked (online). Kind of want to dispute it this way, because I don't know if I could do it over the phone.

Also, my ex filed in 2000 and 1 account says inc in bk on my report, but it is way after the 94 filing date where I actually filed. Hope they wouldn't think this was part of my bk that I'm disputing. Oh well...guess it doesn't reset any clocks or anything.

I read that tu was no longer going to report that both signers filed bk if ony one signer did. Not sure which is worse...having an inc in bk or charge off.

They only have to verify the address, ss#, and/or name? In that case, the only hope we have when we dispute as "not mine" is that the OC does not have enough staff to go through all the disputes. Now, I'm not feeling so good about my first dispute.

I have seen this information about the CRA verification process before on public records (2 out of 3 things must match) but how do we know that's for sure? Is that published somewhere or has it just been from general experience in the past?

    Thanks,

This is totally bizarre...I just pulled my tu from worthknowing...bk is gone. There's no public record info on there. All else is accurate...credit info, etc. BUT, I have no previous addresses listed at all or previous names at all. WHAT HAPPENED?

Is this my real tu report?

Too c.s. to call...besides, not like I'm complaining. Just want to make sure that it IS gone and I'm not getting hopes up. Cant use tu site for another 5 days due to lockout :(.

    Thankgs guys for the answers.

No, when I talked to them yesterday to correct my name info after they plugged ex's info in, they said I only had one file. I always check when I call them because for a long time, I had 3 files with them. All of my verification info matched up...excpet when I entered a previous address tht is always on my report...still let me pull it, but no previous was on file on worthknoeing report.

    I am so baffled.
