How do disputes report?

About a half-dozen of my debts that were discharged in Chapter 7 are instead listed as past due or charged off (of course, the chargeoff happended after the discharge) on my credit reports.

I'm disputing the items with the bureaus, but in the meantime I'd like to get a secured credit card. Of course, the banks I want to apply to say I can't be delinquent on any of my current accounts. I am current on everything, but I worry about being turned down because of the incorrect reporting of the discharged accounts. (And I know it will take months for the CRAs to fix this.)

My question is: How are the items reported while the dispute is in process? Are they still listed as past due/charged off, or do they report as in dispute?
