I had a first consumers in 94 it was charged off in 97, bal of 274. Now that I am serious about getting it together, I called and asked for a payoff, they cant find a record of me but its on all 3 cr. I figured I'd apply for a secure card and was approved and recieved my card, BUT how do I get the old mark off my reports without giving first consumer a red flag that they gave me a new card?
Dispute it with the BIG 3 "NOT MINE" They can't find it, it will be removed. THERE WILL BE NO RED FLAGS!!!
Do you want to apply to first consumer's for a new card? I wasn't sure by your post... I agree w/ George-dispute it as not yours-since no one at First Consumers can find record of your account, most likely, they won't be able to validate it-because of the length of time, you will probably have success. HOWEVER....I would tread very carefully in terms of applying for another card (if that is your intention) w/them. They may not have a record of you in their current account database, but they might (again, speculating) have record via your Drivers license, SS#, etc. in a delinquent account database that they may cross reference if you apply for a new account. Again, pure speculation-but something to consider-many creditors do have blacklists. Also, the old account may have been referred to a collection agency, which is why they have no record of it. ust be careful here-I had several collections come back from the grave as a result of something like pulling my worthknowing credit report. I say dispute it on all 3 reports, and if you need a card, apply w/another lender. Good luck.
Star already got a new card...it won't be taken away as long as you, don't go over the limit even $1.00, pay minimum or more and pay on time. And keep you eye out for a better deal than that card...
