Are you all subscribed at the CRA's for 79.95, because you can update your score all the time. Is that what you should do, when you start cleaning up your credit, so you can look in your report all the time? Or is there another way around that, cause that would be $240 right there.

No, you don't need to spend that kind of money on credit scores.

Go to http://www.myfico.com and pay the $12.95 to get your FICO/Beacon score from your Equifax credit report. You will want to do this for both of you. As you dispute items include in your letters the phrase "Please send me a copy of my updated credit report after you have completed this request" toward the end of the letter. If you run out of thing to dispute you can call up Equifax or Trans Union and ask them to correct the spelling of an old job or delete an old incorrect address. These changes don't impact your score at all but they will kick out another report.

Experian is another mater. They wont send you a new report but you can see your report online at, http://www.experian.com/consumer/index.html(Click on request an investigation) by entering a report number from the last report you will purchase or a correction summary page. Each of these numbers works for ninety days.

The score Experian sells to consumers is not a true FICO score. The one I worry about is the one from myfico.com. Trans Union includes their score with their report.

So, as you dispute items, you will get updated reports or access to them. Every 3 to 6 months you may want to purchase your credit scores to see how you are doing.

    Thanks.

I forgot to mention that when you get your score from http://www.myfico.com, you also get your Experian credit report.

Good luck and remember improving credit takes time and its like a computer game but real slow. I had a Equifax FICO/Beacon score of 629 a year ago. Now 673.
